Pouxin, an amazingly talented fanfic author in her own right, needs fandom help with conducting some research on slash fanfiction!

If you live in the London (UK, not ON :)) area and would like to talk to her and meet some other authors/fans (some BNFs signed up, JSYK ;)), you’re invited to Pouxin’s focus group discussion.

From Pouxin:

”** The Focus Group will be at on Saturday 2nd March, at 11:30 am.

I imagine it lasting 1.5 hours, with some time either side for people to settle down etc. I’ll record the session, but everything will be anonymised  with nothing attributed back to anyone, and the recording will be secure and password protected. It will be held at 68 Chalton Street London, Greater London NW11JR; really near to both Kings X and Euston stations. It’s a really nice space, they have tea and coffee facilities and I will some snacks. People are also welcome to bring their own food (and wine, if they want).

** Here’s a brief synopsis of the sorts of things that will be covered:

Why people read and write m/m pairings

What they enjoy about it, what attracted them to this sort of area

How does it sit in their consumption/creation of ‘erotica’/pornography more generally

What they think of slash/m/m pairings in terms of wider societal views on sex,gender, sexuality etc.

Relatedly, do they think this is going to be a growing trend in a post ‘50 shades’ society, or has nothing changed?”

Fell free to contact her or just show up, and if you can’t, Pouxin will issue a questionnaire on the subject that we’ll post for everyone to fill in online.

I just posted a piece of fanfiction that has been sitting, finished, on my hard drive for two years. Not only is it the longest thing I’ve ever written, it’s also longer than the book the fandom was originally based on.

…I have no idea what to do with myself now.
